The Soap Box

(Re)Telling Tucson’s Story

Everyone has a story to tell. Four short and personal stories from our special guests inspire Tucson's premier improv comedy from The Soapbox every Friday at 7:30pm.

This special Soapbox event supports the HAVEN Champions for Recovery, with extra special guest monologist: Nicole Johnson

Nicole Johnson is a multifaceted professional, athlete, and creative entrepreneur whose work bridges community impact, personal empowerment, and high performance. A Tucson native with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Arizona, Nicole serves as the Housing Programs & Communications Manager for the Tucson Industrial Development Authority. In this role, she manages the digital presence of the Tucson IDA, Groundswell Capital, and the PimaTucson Housing Innovation Hub, while also leading events and venue rentals at the Tucson Small Business Center—an ecosystem that provides local business owners with free financial and business workshops. Passionate about housing accessibility, she oversees down payment assistance initiatives including the Arizona Is Home and PTHS Advantage programs, helping more families achieve the dream of homeownership.

Beyond her desk, Nicole is equally committed to creative and athletic pursuits. She is a personal trainer, model, and entrepreneur with a deep focus on body mastery as the vehicle through which we fuel our lives with intention and purpose. An accomplished athlete, she competes in both local and national women’s flag football leagues, and volunteers as a youth tackle football conditioning coach, inspiring the next generation to pursue strength, discipline, and confidence.

Nicole proudly calls herself Tucson’s “hype woman”—a champion for small businesses, community resilience, and conscious living. Whether in professional leadership, creative endeavors, or athletic arenas, she embodies the belief that mindfulness, movement, and community are the foundation for thriving.

General Admission: $20, box office opens a half hour prior to show time. Proceeds go to support the HAVEN.
