Keeping It Real

  • 414 East 9th Street Tucson, AZ, 85705 United States (map)

Instructor: Neil Garguilo
Saturday, November 10th 10am-12:30pm

Game, relationship, listening, heightening and specifics are all key components to becoming a great improviser. Unfortunately, performers are sometimes so concerned with the rules that they forget that they are in the middle of performing live theater. In this workshop, Neil Garguilo will work on how to get you out of your head and commit to a scene. He will help you ground your characters and show you how honesty and realism will drive the comedy and make your performances memorable.

Neil Garguilo a working television actor, writer and producer based out of Los Angeles and is one of the founding members of the comedy group, Dr. God.

He has studied at Pace University, The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, iO West, Second City and more.

In addition to his vast experience onstage with improv and sketch comedy, Neil has appeared on G4′s Attack of the Show, VH1’s Stevie TV, CBS’s The Bold & the Beautiful and dozens of commercials. He is a regular panel guest on several 'talking-head' comedy series and currently plays the role of Principal Cox on the People's Choice Award winning MTV comedy series, Awkward.

Off camera Neil has written and produced comedy series for Nat Geo, TV Guide Network, Playboy TV and AXS TV. He is currently Executive Producer and panelist on the AXS TV comedy series MOCKpocalypse and has several shows in development.
