The Gift of Time

  • 414 East 9th Street Tucson, AZ, 85705 United States (map)

Instructor: Liz Hutchman
Saturday, November 15th - 2 pm-4:30 pm
Price: $55

Overview: Improvisation is often thought of as quick-witted, but some of the most powerful moments come not from speed, but from pause, presence, and response. The Gift of Time invites players to explore the space between offers, discovering how silence, reaction, and thoughtful response can deepen connection and heighten the impact of every choice.

This workshop explores the art of slowing down in improvisation. Participants will practice justifying actions, listening deeply, and embracing silence to create scenes rich with meaning and connection By focusing on reactions and responses, improvisors will discover how small choices carry big impact.

Liz Hutchman is a Phoenix-based improvisor and educator who performs regularly with The Skewed News Hour, Birds & Broads, and The Collaboratory. She is the co-founder and managing director of Sonoran All-Valley Improv (SAVI), a nonprofit dedicated to education, connectivity, and community building, and co-creator of SAVI FEST, which brings together national theaters and performs for a weekend of performance and training. Along with teaching beginners improv in her weekly Improv Mechanics class at Arizona Actors Academy, Liz also teaches applied improvisation for medical students at the University of Arizona, and caretakers and patients living with early dementia through the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts. Her teaching blends deep stage experience with focus on communication presence, and connection.
