Advancing Your Play with Technique, Tags, and Three Beats

  • 414 East 9th Street Tucson, AZ, 85705 United States (map)

Instructor: Jacque Arend
Sunday, November 9th - 11 am-7 pm
Price: $120

Overview: Part 1: Time Wizardry — Non-Linear Longform and the Art of the Edit
Longform isn’t a straight line — it’s a time-bending, dimension-hopping continuum. In this workshop, you’ll sharpen the editing tools that let an ensemble warp chronology and geography on demand. Expect reps with walk-ons and tag-outs that clarify discoveries, heighten the game, and expand your worlds.
It’s a crash course in weaving seamless connections and spectacular callbacks, giving you the power to make the impossible possible.

Part 2: Non-Linear Longform and the Three-Beat Structure
Featuring “Swap Meet,” the signature original format by Light Rail Pirates

Jacque explores the Harold’s three-beat structure and how its rhythm and logic can elevate all forms of non-linear longform — from structured formats to pure montage. You’ll then dive into “Swap Meet,” an original format that fuses Close Quarters, scenic openings, and dynamic tag methods to heighten relationships in the present.

Learning and running this structure will expand your understanding of non-linear play, strengthen your technique, and train your ensemble sense to apply three-beat storytelling to any format.

These classes are recommended for: Intermediate to Advanced players.
And open to: Beginners ready to level up with challenging, concept-driven work.
