Brought to improv by Del Close as an exercise & performance tool to elevate simple suggestions and connect our personal experiences to grand themes & big ideas. This workshop will boost your listening, commitment, and playfulness to explore themes and ideas in an energetic and physical way that can enhance every aspect of your performances. Jose Gonzalez [he/him] is a Phoenix native who co-founded the Torch Theatre in 2007 and was involved in multiple roles there through 2021. Over nearly two decades, he has taught and performed in numerous festivals and events with groups like Galapagos, VerizonQwest, Mariachi Kittens, Dangerville, and Umlautilde, all across North America and parts of Europe including the Chicago Improv Festival, the Del Close Marathon, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival (Austin, Texas), Improv Fest Ireland, the Toronto International Improv Festival, the Los Angeles Improv Festival, Salt Lake City DuoFest, the Eau Claire Improv Festival, the Philadelphia Improv Festival, the Denver Improv Festival, and Improvaganza in Honolulu, Hawaii. Forever a student of the artform, Jose has remotely trained with Pack Theater LA, UCB Theatre, Will Hines’s World’s Greatest Improv School, and The Squirrel NYC. Jose also performs monthly as a cast member of the Victrola improvised sketch podcast based out of ColdTowne Theater in Austin, Texas.
